The Whippet Weekly
Week of November 3-7, 2025
Hello WHS Families,
Our NEASC visitors from 6 different districts in Connecticut commended how respectful, welcoming, engaged, and friendly our students are. They used the word MAGNIFICENT to describe them!
They also recognized the dedication our teachers and staff show towards preparing our students for success in college, career, and life.
College and Career Readiness Events:
FAFSA is a part of a completed college application ( for most schools) Please encourage seniors to see Mrs. Fleeting to start the FAFSA process or to check their application.
Wednesday, November 13th: Representatives from Electric Boat will be visiting to speak with interested juniors and seniors about internships and job opportunities.
Monday, November 18th: A representative from the CT State Community Colleges will be here to share information about their programs and admissions process; they offer great options for certificates in certain areas or an associate's degree... for free! Please encourage students to attend and learn more about what these schools have to offer.
Credit Recovery: Please let seniors know that Credit Recovery will begin on Nov. 12. The school counselors have a list of the classes that seniors need and we will sign them up in CT Courseware. It will run Tues-Thurs from 2:00-3:25 pm. Room TBD.
Tuesday: Marking Period 1 closes.
Thursday: Fire Drill 10:25 am
Attendance: Please continue to stress to your students that Attendance Matters and that students on contracts must be in class 30 days in a row in order to recover credit. We will recognize students with perfect attendance on November 14 at our Honor Roll and Perfect Attendance Assemblies.
Wishing you a great week,
Pamela Cavanagh
