Good Afternoon Windham Community,

First, I want to wish the Windham High School Boys’ Basketball Team the best of luck tomorrow morning when they play for the State Title at Mohegan Sun.  Go Whippets!

Next, I want to provide a COVID update.  Between March 3rd, the day the mask mandate was removed and March 17th, the district has had a total of 4 positive cases.  We continue to report the positive cases to the Department of Public Health and update our district dashboard on a daily basis. Given our data and the fact that the Department of Public Health has stated they are seeing the lowest case rates statewide since the start of the pandemic, I have encouraged our school leaders to remove other mitigation strategies within their buildings.  We are treating this like a science experiment and making adjustments to one variable at a time and then watching cautiously to ensure case rates are not increasing.  We are also very much encouraged by the state’s hospitalization rates and their ability to effectively treat those with the virus. While we cannot predict the future, we are definitely in a good place right now.  If you have any questions or concerns about COVID, please do not hesitate to call or email my office or reach out to your child’s principal.

Have a great weekend, everyone.
