CH Barrows STEM Academy

Charles H Barrows STEM Academy has garnered another national recognition. This year they are recognized as a STEM School of Excellence from the Technology and Engineering Educators Association. Their integrated curriculum and school wide participation in engineering activities, the highlight of which is the Invention Convention, sets them apart from other STEM Schools.

Scott Weiler, The Director of Innovation at the STEM Center for Teaching and Learning, states “This honor is one of the great achievements granted by the ITEEA and reflects the school's amazing work and accomplishments.” Assistant Principal Robert Kallajian noted, “We are extremely grateful to receive the STEM Award of Excellence. From the moment we opened our doors 10 years ago, it has been our mission to enrich and expand the student learning experience through inquiry- based learning that is a natural extension of our integrated STEM curricular units. We are so happy for our students whose hard work and determination are the reasons we are being so honored today.”

The award will be officially given on April 13th at a Conference in Minneapolis. Representatives from the school will participate in a reception with STEM schools from around the country as well as members of the ITEEA. They will have the opportunity to share the projects they have worked on and best practices in STEM Education with educators from around the country.
