Kindergarten Registration
WHO?
Children born on or before September 1st, 2024 and who do not already attend Windham Early Childhood Center (WECC) pre-school.
Please Note: Students attending WECC Pre-Kindergarten do NOT need to register!
HOW?
Kindergarten registration is coordinated at the school in the area in which you live. Click here to find your address and determine your neighborhood school to register your child.
WHEN?
By appointment ONLY!
Monday, April 1 | 9am to 2pm |
Tuesday, April 2 | 9am to 2pm |
Thursday, April 4 | 4pm to 6pm |
WHAT IS NEEDED TO REGISTER?
Windham Public Schools - Kindergarten Registration - English | Registracion de Kinder - Español
Original and/or certified copy of birth certificate (long version) or passport
Parent or legal guardian’s official photo ID
Two (2) proofs of address, which show the parent/legal guardian’s name and address
Child’s up-to-date immunization record
Child’s recent, completed, and signed physical examination form

Late-Entry Waiver Information
The Connecticut General Assembly voted to change the entrance age requirement for Kindergarten beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. Next year, students will have to turn five (5) on or before September 1, 2024 in order to enroll in Kindergarten.
For those students who will not turn five (5) until after September 1, 2024, Windham Public Schools has an appeal process in place for families who wish to have their child enter Kindergarten for the 2024/25 school year.
Families can request a waiver by submitting their request IN WRITING to Liz Bumgardner, Director of Elementary Education at eBumgardner@windham.k12.ct.us and must be submitted no later than Friday, March 15, 2024.
